Diversity and inclusion sessions for different audiences
Diversity and inclusion is one of Sutapa Sanyal's most popular speaking topics.
For example, in 2025, Sutapa Sanyal delivered a session for Taylor & Francis on Inclusive Language and Unconscious Bias at Work during Global Diversity Awareness Month.
Her diversity and inclusion work focuses on the decisions that shape everyday working life: whose voice is heard, how work is recognised and who gets the chance to grow. She brings that focus to keynotes and leadership sessions for companies.
Diversity, equity and inclusion in everyday work
Sutapa brings the DEI conversation into how teams listen, make decisions, recognise work and share opportunities.
Diversity brings different experiences into an organisation. Inclusion makes room for those experiences to be heard and used. Equity asks whether people have fair access to the opportunities and support they need to contribute and grow.
For a leadership team, that can mean looking at how decisions are made and who gets responsibility. For managers, feedback, work allocation and participation in meetings. For employees, the assumptions they bring to the people they work alongside.

What Sutapa speaks about
Inclusive leadership
Whose voice is heard, whose work is recognised and who gets the chance to grow.
Unconscious bias and everyday decisions
Recognising assumptions, making the reasons for a decision clear and questioning habits that affect feedback, recognition and opportunity.
Language and participation at work
Listening across roles, asking for the knowledge a team is missing and making room to question an idea without making it personal.
Fair opportunities to contribute and grow
Useful feedback, access to responsibility and the expectations people face as they build a career.
Experience behind the conversation
Sutapa joined the Indian Police Service in 1984 and became the first woman to hold Director General of Police rank in Uttar Pradesh. She built her career in a profession where few women held senior roles, then worked to make the institution more responsive to the people it served.
She founded the U.P. Police Mahila Samman Prakoshth, whose work on women’s rights and child rights reached 120 million+ women and children.
That experience informs her speaking today: inclusion involves opening the door and examining what happens after someone comes through it.

Who the session is for
Leadership teams, people managers, HR and learning teams, employee networks and wider employee audiences. Sessions can fit a leadership offsite, a D&I event, an awareness month or an organisation-wide conversation.
Formats and language
Keynote, keynote with moderated Q&A, fireside conversation, panel or leadership session. In person or virtual. Formats and durations are agreed around the audience and event.
